Lisa Zemanovich, MSW, RSW

Hi there, my name is Lisa

With over 10 years of experience, I am deeply committed to helping individuals overcome life’s challenges. While we all face difficult times, I believe in the inherent resilience within each person, and I am dedicated to supporting you on your journey toward healing and growth. I create a non-judgmental, empathetic, and warm environment to foster a collaborative approach in achieving your therapeutic goals.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from McGill University and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto. My professional experience includes training in several hospital settings, including Women’s College Hospital and SickKids, before transitioning to private practice in 2017.
Specialization
I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced childhood trauma/complex PTSD, particularly adult clients who have survived various forms of childhood abuse, including physical, emotional, sexual abuse, and neglect. In addition to trauma, I also specialize in relational issues and couples therapy, helping partners navigate communication challenges, emotional disconnection, and other relational dynamics.
Other areas of focus in my practice include treating OCD, phobias, anxiety, depression, somatic symptom disorder, functional neurological disorder, and social anxiety. I approach each issue with compassion and a tailored treatment plan to address the unique needs of each client.

Approaches/Treatment Modalities
I am committed to offering an integrative approach to therapy, tailoring treatment to meet the unique needs of each individual. With extensive training in a variety of modalities, I draw from techniques that best suit the client’s needs and goals. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Approaches, Relational Psychotherapies, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Sensory-Motor Psychotherapy.

Services

1
Individual Therapy
If you're going through a difficult time, you don't have to face life struggles alone. Having support and someone by your side to offer a safe place can make all the difference. Therapy can be an outlet to help process emotions, foster self-discovery, to learn techniques to deal with life stressors and to gain further insight and self-awareness.
2
Couples Therapy
Whether you're having difficulties in communication, lack of intimacy, feeling unheard or unseen or perhaps feeling emotionally distance, couples therapy can help. These are some of the very common things most couples can experience in points of their relationship. Couples therapy can teach healthy ways of communicating, healthy ways to deal with conflict and ways to bring each other closer and build connection.
3
Family Therapy
When thinking of families, they work as a unit. Thus, if one person is in distress, the whole unit can be affected. Family therapy can help create healthier dynamics within the family unit, provide strategies to better resolve conflict and help to foster stronger bonds and relationships.
